We note without comment today the remarks of Bruce Friedrich, the Washington, DC coordinator for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). You may recall that last week PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said she “openly” hoped that foot-and-mouth disease migrated to the United States. When asked by the Associated Press for clarification, Friedrich responded: “I can’t imagine anybody who cares about animals arguing with that statement.” Friedrich went on to say: “Anything that accelerates the demise of the meat industry… is a very good thing.”
