If QSR industry leaders think the lunatics at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA, are going to back off just because Burger King has matched McDonald’s recent “capitulation,” they sadly are mistaken.
PETA may be declaring “victory” at present, but those who know the group best recognize that recent events merely have served to move the goal posts. From there, animal-rights aggressors certainly will keep making demands until those restaurants take meat off of their menus for good.
Ridiculous? Perhaps not. In a recent letter to NRN,” PETA appreciates BK’s response to animal cruelty protest,” Sept. 3, page 33, PETA employee Heather Moore insisted that “the only true way to stop cruelty to animals used for food is to go vegetarian.”
