The juvenile billboard from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine claiming that hot dogs cause “butt cancer” is another eye-rolling stunt from an animal rights group. The real pain in the rear is having to put up with more pseudoscience from agenda-driven activists (News, March 13).

The American Cancer Society’s nutrition director has said that “an occasional hot dog isn’t going to increase that (cancer) risk.”

And a large prospective study conducted by Oxford University researchers found no difference in mortality between vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Given the disputed nutrition science, the vegan activist PCRM should offer more “frank” talk about its hidden animal rights agenda.
