Meat-diabetes link questioned

There's a good reason Caroline Trapp argues that eating meat is responsible for climbing diabetes rates in every corner of the world. [October 27: "History offers some clues to solving our food crisis: U.S. meat-eating habits go beyond personal health"] Trapp represents an anti-meat animal rights group.
Newsweek, the New York Times, and other publications have exposed Trapp's organization, the misnamed "Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine," as a deceptive front for the animal rights movement. The group's leader is a past president of the PETA Foundation. More than two-thirds of its budget comes directly from the wealthy founder of the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida. And less than four percent of its members are actually physicians.
No wonder Trapp thinks meat is to blame for everything that ails us.
