Vegan food a deterrent

I think it's marvelous that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is tracking how many prisons serve vegan food ("Utah State Prison makes PETA's top 10 veggie-friendly penitentiaries," Dec. 18.) In fact, meatless and dairy-free food should be mandatory in all our nation's prisons. The threat of that kind of cruel and unusual punishment could cut crime rates in half.
