School Nutrition Professionals Flunk PCRM
The deceptive Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) deserves a dunce cap for pushing its radical animal-rights agenda at the expense of children's health. So say Albuquerque, New Mexico school nutrition professionals. After initially assisting PCRM with its annual "school lunch report card," the nutrition coordinator (a registered dietician) for Albuquerque schools "said she probably would not have cooperated with the group ... if she had known more about it." She told the Albuquerque Tribune: "Real physicians would not recommend a vegan diet for growing children."

So say Albuquerque, New Mexico school nutrition professionals. After initially assisting PCRM with its annual "school lunch report card," the nutrition coordinator (a registered dietician) for Albuquerque schools "said she probably would not have cooperated with the group ... if she had known more about it." She told the Albuquerque Tribune: "Real physicians would not recommend a vegan diet for growing children."
PCRM's Jeanne McVey was left with some serious explaining to do. McVey "did acknowledge only 5 percent of the group's 100,000 members are physicians." And responding to charges about PCRM's close connections with the animal-rights nuts at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), McVey said: "[I]n the past, PETA might have supported one of our animal-testing programs, but we do not get funding from them now." Now that's funny. PETA has funneled more than $1.3 million to PCRM, mostly through the PETA Foundation. The president of that foundation is PCRM president Neal Barnard -- who also serves as PETA's "medical advisor."
As the Albuquerque Schools community nutrition specialist (a registered dietician) told the Tribune, she took PCRM's work "lightly" -- "because of where the report came from."
