Rock Icon Endorses PETA, Violence
Stop us if you think you've heard this one before, but another friend of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has gone on the record advocating violence in the name of animal rights. One-time rock star Morrissey accepted an award at PETA's recent 25th Anniversary Gala and Humanitarian Awards Show, just a few months before he came out in support of animal rights violence.
Stop us if you think you've heard this one before, but another friend of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has gone on the record advocating violence in the name of animal rights. One-time rock star Morrissey accepted an award at PETA's recent 25th Anniversary Gala and Humanitarian Awards Show, just a few months before he came out in support of animal rights violence.
In an online Q&A (click here and scroll down to question 13 to see his full answer), Morrissey stated:
I support the efforts of the Animal Rights Militia in England and I understand why fur-farmers and so-called laboratory scientists are repaid with violence -- it is because they deal in violence themselves and it's the only language they understand -- the same principals [sic] that apply to war.
The particular mix of nuts known as the Animal Rights Militia has firebombed a research executive's home and threatened a day care center for daring to watch researchers' children. PETA's award message to Morrissey noted that he "has opened the eyes of millions to the importance of a compassionate life."
Is PETA embarrassed by the fact that their "compassionate" awardee has since endorsed animal-rights violence? We doubt it, considering the group's open praise for violence advocates who practice what they preach. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has described animal-rights extremist Rodney Coronado as "a fine young man" who happens to be a convicted serial arsonist and a recipient of over $70,000 (tax-exempt) dollars from PETA.
Heard the one about the animal-rights "charity" that gives praise and money to the violent-minded? Well, we're not going to tell it again -- that joke isn't funny anymore.
