CCF Dogs Animal Activists In The Sun Belt

Arizona's a growing state, but not every newcomer is simply looking for a nice place in the sun. Animal rights activists are flocking to the state to fight multiple battles. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), its quasi-medical affiliate Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), and even the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) have all been beating the bushes in Arizona.

But where animal activists go, so does the Center for Consumer Freedom. We've placed a full-page ad in today's Arizona Republic, the state's largest newspaper, to educate Arizonans about these national animal-rights behemoths. Some highlights from the ad:

  • PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has admitted her group would oppose medical research using animals "even if it resulted in a cure for AIDS."

  • Despite the deceptive "Physicians Committee" name, less than 4 percent of PCRM's members have gone to medical school.

  • HSUS raises over $100 million every year. Although this is enough to run successful pet shelters in every state, HSUS doesn't run a single one anywhere. And it is not affiliated with any local "humane society."
