Upon hearing that animal-rights activists from PETA had taken their anti-milk campaign directly to Baton Rouge schoolchildren, Louisiana State Senator David Cain responded from the podium of the state’s Senate chamber. With a tall glass of cold milk in hand, Cain noted that dairy cows need to be milked twice daily for their own health. And he should know: he grew up on a dairy farm. Smacking his lips after depositing a milk moustache on his upper lip, Cain remarked, “I hate that PETA wants to hurt those cows.”
