Get ’em while they’re young. A new children’s book, Saving Emily, tries to scare children out of eating meat. The anti-meat website VegSource, run by Armour meatpacking heir Jeffrey Armour Nelson, offers a review of the heartwarming tale of a lovable cow who is “tagged, beaten, branded, hauled in cramped, filthy cattle trucks, sold at auction like a steak on the hoof, and sent to a feedlot for fattening.” The best thing about the book, intended for children as young as eight? “It’s not dogmatic,” VegSource says.
