The BBC News Service is reporting on a dangerous trend in the United Kingdom. A survey of over 200 general practitioners found that most doctors say women are putting their health at risk by following fashionable “elimination diets,” where certain types of foods (usually meats, dairy, or complex carbohydrates) are completely avoided. While some women are avoiding certain foods because they believe (erroneously) that they suffer from food allergies, many are doubtless latching onto the latest in “fad” dieting because of activist pressure to alter the way they eat. British doctor Sarah Brewer told the BBC that “women need to be educated about the risks involved with faddy diets.”
