In Oregon, U.S. Attorney Michael Mosman recently announced that two members of the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) have been charged with arson for torching three cement trucks in April 2001. The two were already under federal indictments for setting fire to logging trucks last June.
The ELF and its sister group, the Animal Liberation Front (ALF), have collectively caused over $37 million in damage since their U.S. crime spree began. Earlier this year, the Center for Consumer Freedom documented a financial gift to the ELF from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Earlier this month, the ELF threatened to poison or bomb the water supply of Winter Park, Colorado. The FBI agents digging into this threat are from the same unit tasked to investigate the 1998 Vail Ski Resort fire, which caused $12 million in damage and put the lives of dozens of firefighters at risk. The FBI is on record stating that the Earth Liberation Front is our nation’s number one domestic terrorist threat.
In addition to toying with the lives of innocent citizens, ELF criminals have destroyed countless crops and research materials related to food biotechnology. University of Washington horticulture professor John Wott recently told reporters in Iowa that his own research lab was completely destroyed just last year.
