The zealots of the Farm Animal Reform Movement (FARM) are at it again. Just weeks before their annual “Great American Meatout” event, FARM is setting its sights on eliminating the dairy component of America’s school food programs.

In an e-mail message sent to thousands of FARM supporters yesterday, animal rights supporter Mary Max (wife of pop artist Peter Max) urged activists to call and fax the USDA’s Special Nutrition Program (SNP) and urge the program’s administrator to add soy milk and rice milk to the approved list of public-school foods.

FARM adds: “Please note: Do not ask SNP to eliminate milk… as much as we would like to make that happen, we’ll be shooting ourselves in the foot if we ask for this at this point.”

It’s nice to know that these folks are pacing themselves.
