You'd think People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) would love Paris Hilton — they are both known for their graphic films, while neither is renowned for expressing humanity's highest ideals. Yet PETA recently took the opportunity to bash the hotel heiress for giving her famed Chihuahua, Tinkerbell, to her mother. A PETA spokesperson said: "It's a pity that Paris' heart doesn't match her pocketbook. Animals shouldn't be disposed of like last season's trendy handbag." It might be easier to take PETA's criticism more seriously if two of its employees weren't facing animal-cruelty allegations. Police are charging two of its employees with throwing away the carcasses of adoptable dogs and cats (which they had killed) in a dumpster behind a strip mall Piggly Wiggly.
