One of the latest campaigns unveiled by the animal-rights publicity hounds at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has us howling with laughter. As the Irish Independent reported last week: “Animal rights activists have gone barking mad — they want pet owners to feed their cats and dogs vegetarian meals.” PETA’s United Kingdom arm has published a web page titled “Vegetarian Cats and Dogs” explaining just how to get felines and canines off that beastly habit of eating any meat whatsoever.
We’re sure that the individuals contributing to PETA’s $26.5 million budget are glad their money is being spent on promoting veganism for sharp-toothed pets, and not on rescuing too many animals from natural disasters. After all, this is the same organization that bragged about saving a whopping 32 dogs in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
