It’s been over 30 days since E. coli-contaminated spinach sickened more than 200 Americans and killed three. Why haven’t we heard anything from the nutrition and food safety “authorities” at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM)? Self-described as a group that works for nutritional “health promotion,” the ever-conscientious PCRM warns people away from beef for (overblown) fear of mad cow disease and away from grilled chicken for (ridiculous) fears about cancer. So where’s the warning about leafy greens? Surely PCRM’s deafening silence on a non-meat food safety issue can’t be attributable to the fact that it’s really People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in a lab coat
