People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has disturbing connections with the violent wing of the animal rights movement that go far beyond the group’s president vowing that she “would be the last person to condemn” the terrorist Animal Liberation Front.
According to PETA’s 2001 tax return, it wrote a $1,500 check to the ALF’s sister group, the arson-happy Earth Liberation Front.
PETA gives contradictory answers as to why, but the rationale doesn’t matter. As we learn from the recent federal indictments, ELF is a group of ideologically driven arsonists with a purely criminal purpose. And sharing tax-exempt, charitable contributions with a terrorist group is against the law.
If ever a criminal case called for a “follow-the-money” investigation, this is it.
