When Neal Barnard promotes a diet entirely devoid of meat and dairy, it’s a deceptive animal-rights ploy, not a public health service (“Skip the drugs and change diet to improve health, lose weight,” Nov. 8). His group, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, has received $1.3 million from PETA. Barnard himself is the medical adviser to PETA.

Barnard testified before the Food and Drug Administration that cheese is “dairy crack.” While there’s nothing wrong with being a vegetarian, meatless eating shouldn’t be promoted by using deception.
