People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals appears so eager to cripple Feld Entertainment that it has become the proverbial pot calling the three-ring kettle black. (“Circus magnate, PETA head to court in Northern Virginia,” Feb .27)
PETA has a long history of surveilling and infiltrating businesses that it wants shut down for good, including a meatpacker, a pet-food company, a wildlife refuge, at least four medical research laboratories — and, yes, a circus.
One PETA employee stole countless documents from inside a medical research facility during the 1990s. And a PETA Web site features “undercover” videos shot by the group’s anti-circus activists without anyone’s permission.
It’s pure hypocrisy for PETA to sue a company for allegedly behaving in the exact same manner.
