Editor, The News:

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the American Cancer Society agree that diets including meat and dairy foods are perfectly healthy for cancer patients

But The Cancer Project (“Anti-cancer cooking could save your life,” The Saginaw News, July 24) advocates a strict vegan diet as the only means of minimizing cancer risks and improving cancer survival.

The Cancer Project tries to pass off this fringe diet as legitimate health advice because it’s run by the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine — a deceptively named animal rights group with deep ties to the fanatical People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

If Saginaw residents want sound advice about cancer prevention, they should look elsewhere.
