A meatless and milkless diet is not a cure for diabetes, regardless of what Caroline Trapp’s animal-rights colleagues think. (“Could diet help reverse the diabetes epidemic?” July 1).
The research she cites was carried out by the cynically misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, an animal-rights group whose membership includes only a relative handful of actual doctors.
Newsweek and The New York Times have exposed this deceptive organization’s ties to PETA, and to the animal-rights movement’s violent wing as well. One of the Physicians Committee’s spokesmen has even called for the “assassination” of doctors who use animals in their research.
Americans with diabetes should be listening to their doctors, not to a group of save-the-chickens radicals.
